WHAT IS THE UUWA?
The Unitarian Universalist Women's
Association (UUWA) was formed in 1964 by the union of the New York League
of Women and the Association of Universalist Women of the New York
Metropolitan District. In 1989, the UUWA agreed to provide leadership for
the Metro NY District Women and Religion
Committee. The Women and Religion
Committee focuses on issues of feminist spirituality and encourages
awareness of such issues within the district at large. The two groups
operate jointly.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Unitarian Universalist Women's
Association exists to provide a support network beyond our congregations
for the promotion of feminist values within the Metro New York District.
We do this by:
1) Acting as a central clearinghouse for UU women in the district
2) Organizing opportunities for interconnection
3) Providing feminist focus toward personal, political, and
spiritual growth
4) Providing safe space for women
5) Nurturing, supporting, and inspiring women's work
WHAT DO WE DO?
We reach out to individual and groups
through programs we sponsor that are responsive to current interests and
needs.
Our Fall Renewal weekend includes a focused in-depth topic exploration at
a comfortable conference center with beautiful natural surroundings. The
Mid-Winter Annual Meeting offers UU women a one-day program of feminist
interest. Special events are scheduled when the opportunity arises.
Look for information about our
activities
on the District
Calendar.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE AND CONTRIBUTE
We welcome women of all ages concerned with social action and personal
growth and inspired by women realizing their potential and improving our
world.
If you are a UU living in the New York Metropolitan District, you and your
friends are invited to participate in our activities. You are also invited
to our monthly Board meetings at 7pm in the Community Church Parish House,
28 E. 35th St., NY, NY, on the first Monday of the month, October through
June. We meet on the second Monday in September.
We subsist primarily on individual and group contributions and program
registration fees. There are no dues, but your generous support in the
form of contributions helps cover costs.
The suggested yearly contribution for individuals is $10, and for groups
is $3 per member. Larger donations help to provide more services.
To contribute: copy, complete, and mail the coupon below. Thank you for
any support now or in the future. For further information, contact
