How Can Ministers and Lay Leadership Help Make the  Chalice Lighters Program Successful?

bullet Designate a committed and highly responsible Chalice Lighter Coordinator to be the prime Point of Contact on all Chalice Lighter matters.
bullet Support the Coordinator's efforts to publicize each Call.
bullet Actively encourage the congregation to support the Chalice Lighter's concept of "UU's helping other UU's in their growth and in growing Unitarian Universalism."
bullet Encourage the setting of goals for each call in terms of participation and total funds raised during the Call.
bullet Include the date of the Scheduled Call on the Congregation's Master Calendar.
bullet Support allowing a guest from the Called Congregation to speak during the service (5 minutes maximum) about their plans for using Chalice Lighters funds.
bullet Include information about the Call (including name of guest speaker) in the Order of Service.
bullet Encourage support of the Call from the pulpit.
bullet Support the Coordinator in allowing collections the following two or three more Sundays for contributions from persons absent the first Sunday...with a one minute announcement to the congregation stating how much was collected and your goal.
