The UUA Health Plan is approved! Acrobat Reader Required The number of enrollments across the country has exceeded the minimum required. The comprehensive plan will be up and running as of January 1, 2007. To give those who were unable to enroll by the original deadline a chance to join this plan, the enrollment period has been extended until November 27. For inquiries, contact the coordinator, Jim Sargent, or Metro NY District Compensation Consultant Lynn Dash.
Save the date! The Metro NY District 2007 Annual Meeting will be held April 27-28 at the Marriott Hotel in Stamford CT. A highlight of the meeting will be the presentation of the 2007 Annual Awards Acrobat Reader Required, and you are invited to submit a nomination for one or more of four awards. The nomination deadline is March 1, 2007.
The UU Congregation at Rock Tavern (NY) has received nearly $19,000 in generous donations to help the congregation recover from the loss of its facilities in a tragic fire on September 12. Read more . . . Acrobat Reader Required The UU Fellowship of Poughkeepsie is sponsoring a folk concert and raffle Acrobat Reader Required to benefit the Rock Tavern congregation on November 12.

The Fall 2006 Chalice Lighters Call Acrobat Reader Required will benefit the Gulf Coast UU Fellowship (Gulfport MS) and the UUA-UU Service Committee Gulf Coast Relief Fund in efforts to recover from the ravages of hurricane Katrina. Rather than representatives from the called congregation visiting District congregations, congregation Chalice Lighters Coordinators are asked to speak briefly, based on mailed and online materials, at a Sunday service. The General Assembly 2007 Planning Committee has made important changes to the schedule for the June 24-27, 2007, General Assembly in Portland OR, including eliminating the Closing Ceremony and ending General Assembly with a Sunday afternoon workshop service. Delegates to General Assembly 2006 passed a resolution asking congregations to hold at least one program addressing racism and classism and to report on that program at General Assembly 2007. Resources are available at www.uua.org/actions/responsive/06racism. Read more . . . Acrobat Reader Required
 Jubilee 1 and Julibee 2 Acrobat Reader Required are programs offered by the Jubliee Working Group for Anti-Racism to help congregations dismantle racism. For more information, contact Diane Martin, UUA Office of Congregational Services at 617-948-6461.
 The UUA seeks potential authors Acrobat Reader Required, either individuals or teams of writers, to be hired on a per-project basis for the development and writing of the Tapestry of Faith Children's Programs for grades K-6. Application deadline is December 6. For information, contact Tracy Hurd.
 When certifying membership numbers to the UUA this year, all congregations will be asked to report average Sunday attendance -- the average number of all children and adults present on Sunday morning, even if they are not part of the worship service.
Weekend Renewal Acrobat Reader Required, sponsored by the UU Women's Assocation and the District Women and Religion Committee, November 10-12 at St. Josephat's Retreat House, Glen Cove, Long Island, will feature the theme of eco-feminism with the Rev. Katherine Jesch, Director of Environmental Ministry for the UU Ministry for Earth and coordinator of the Green Sanctuary Program.
Maureen Beck, a member of the UU Fellowship of Poughkeepsie (NY), writes in the Poughkeepsie Journal about Halloween from the Pagan perspective. She explains that Paganism to her is "about aligning myself with the energies of nature and the universe."
YO-HO-CON -- Avast ye swabs! The yUUth group of the Fourth Unitarian Society of Westchester (Mohegan Lake NY) is hosting a CON on November 17-19. Registration is limited. For information, contact Pam Parker at 914-277-7274.

The Rev. Margaret Haynes Allen was installed by the Unitarian Church at Westport (CT) on October 29.
 
The Rev. Emilie Boggis was ordained by the Unitarian Church in Summit (NJ) on November 5.
 
The Rev. Hope Johnson will be installed by the UU Congregation of Central Nassau (Garden City NY) on December 10 at 4:30 p.m.
 
Nathan Walker will be ordained by the Fourth Universalist Society (Manhattan) on January 14, 2007, at 5:00 p.m.
 
Jill Bowden will be ordained by the Fourth Universalist Society (Manhattan) on March 18, 2007, at 5:00 p.m.
