The UUA Health Plan is approved!
The
number of enrollments across the country has exceeded the
minimum required. The comprehensive plan will be up and
running as of January 1, 2007. To give those who were unable
to enroll by the original deadline a chance to join this
plan, the enrollment period has been extended until
November 27. For inquiries, contact the

The Metro NY District 2007 Annual Meeting will
be held April 27-28 at the Marriott Hotel
in Stamford CT. A highlight of the meeting will be the
presentation of the
2007
Annual Awards
,
and you are invited to
submit
a nomination for
one or more of four awards. The nomination deadline is March
1, 2007.
The UU Congregation at
Rock Tavern (NY) has received nearly $19,000 in
generous donations to help the congregation recover from the
loss of its facilities in a tragic fire on September 12. Read

The UU Fellowship of Poughkeepsie is
sponsoring a
folk concert and raffle
to
benefit the Rock Tavern congregation on November 12.

The Fall 2006 Chalice Lighters
Call
will
benefit the
Gulf Coast UU Fellowship (Gulfport
MS) and the
UUA-UU Service Committee Gulf Coast
Relief Fund in
efforts to recover from the ravages of hurricane
Katrina. Rather than representatives from the called
congregation visiting District congregations, congregation
Chalice Lighters Coordinators are asked to speak briefly,
based on mailed and online
materials, at a Sunday service.

The General Assembly 2007 Planning Committee
has made important changes to the schedule
for the June 24-27, 2007, General Assembly in Portland OR,
including eliminating the Closing Ceremony and
ending General Assembly with a Sunday afternoon workshop
service.

Delegates to General Assembly 2006 passed a
resolution asking congregations to hold at least
one program addressing racism and classism
and to report on that program at General Assembly 2007.

Jubilee 1 and Julibee 2
are
programs offered by the Jubliee Working Group for
Anti-Racism to help congregations dismantle racism. For more

The UUA seeks potential
authors ,
either individuals or teams of writers, to be hired on a
per-project basis for the development and writing of the
Tapestry of Faith Children's Programs for grades K-6.
Application deadline is December 6. For information, contact

When certifying membership numbers to the UUA this
year, all congregations will be asked to report
average Sunday attendance -- the average number of all
children and adults present on Sunday morning, even if they
are not part of the worship service.
Weekend Renewal ,
sponsored by the UU Women's Assocation and the
District Women and Religion Committee, November 10-12 at St.
Josephat's Retreat House, Glen Cove, Long Island, will
feature the theme of eco-feminism with the Rev.
Katherine Jesch, Director of Environmental Ministry
for the UU Ministry for Earth and coordinator of the Green
Sanctuary Program.
Maureen Beck, a member of the UU
Fellowship of Poughkeepsie (NY),
writes in the
Poughkeepsie
Journal about Halloween from
the Pagan perspective. She explains that
Paganism to her is "about aligning myself
with the energies of nature and the
universe."
