Did You Know . . . ?
 
. . . The District Board of Trustees has planned a Series of Conversations with congregational leaders during the year to explore creating and sustaining healthy congregations. The UU Congregation at Shelter Rock (Manhasset NY) is host to the first Conversation on September 10.

. . . The Upper Delaware UU Fellowship (Beach Lake PA) sold Equal Exchange Fair Trade Coffee at the annual Riverfest Festival in Narrowsburg NY on July 24th.  $4800 raised at the Fellowship’s Walk for Social Justice last fall was recently distributed to eight local charities.

. . . The General Assembly Planning Committee is soliciting applications for significant, innovative programs for GA 2006 in St. Louis. Start planning now! Applications are due September 1, 2005, by 5:00 p.m. EST. The Committee will sponsor up to 15 programs, selecting 10 to receive funding of $500 each.
 
. . . The Church of the Younger Fellowship (CYF) has been created to address the spiritual needs of UU young adults (18-35 year-olds). You can now sponsor a young adult for membership in the CYF, providing many benefits, including unlimited access to the CYF online worship space. Click here to sponsor your CYF member.
 
. . . The UUA’s Washington Office for Advocacy seeks applicants for the position of Legislative Assistant for Civil Rights and Religious Liberty. This internship starts on August 29. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. The goal of the UUA Social Justice Internship Program is to combine service, learning, and faith development to produce energetic young adults with the professional skills and strength of character to be lifelong UU leaders working for social justice.
 
. . . UUA President William G. Sinkford has lent his support to a cyber-march on global warming. In his statement Sinkford says: "I join this cyber march against global warming, and encourage other Unitarian Universalists to do so, because it is an act of faith to speak out on behalf of our earth . . ."

Milestones and Transitions
 
ReBecca Sala will be ordained by the Unitarian Universalist Society in Stamford (CT) at 4:00 p.m. on September 18.
 
The Unitarian Church in Westport (CT) welcomes Manish Mishra as their Interim Associate Minsister beginning August 15th. Manish will be ordained by All Souls Church in Washington, D.C. in October.
 
The Rev. Abigail Stockman is the new Interim Minister at the UU Fellowship of Northern Westchester (Mount Kisco NY). She grew up in Larchmont NY and has spent the past several years in Rhode Island.
 
Cheryl Walker is the new Interim Minister at the Unitarian Church of All Souls in Manhattan. Cheryl was an intern at the Unitarian Church of Montclair (NJ). She'll be ordained in the fall at the Community Church of New York UU in Manhattan.
 
Tatiana Molano is now Director of Religious Education for the Unitarian Church of Staten Island (NY).
 
Aisha Hauser, Director of Religious Education for the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Essex County (Orange NJ) has been elected secretary of the national board of the Liberal Religious Educators Association.
 
Rev. Debra Haffner, Community Minister at the Unitarian Church in Westport (CT) and Director of the Religious Institute on Sexual Morality, Justice, and Healing, has just published the book A Time to Heal: Protecting Children and Ministering to Sex Offenders. Rev. Haffner has been chosen by the UU Ministers Association’s Center Program as a featured Center presenter in 2005-2006. She will be conducting workshops at UUMA chapters across the country.
 
The UU Congregation of the South Fork is planning a joyous celebration on September 25, 2005, from 4:00-6:00 followed by a reception, in honor of the congregation’s new facility in Bridgehampton NY. Please plan to attend. For information call 631-537-0132.
 
At a ceremony and reception at General Assembly on June 26, the Unitarian Church of All Souls in Manhattan was among six congregations nationwide to be recognized as an Anchor Congregation for significant contribution to young adult and campus ministry.
