. . . District congregations respond generously to aid tsunami victims. The UU Service Committee has collected nearly $1 million from UU congregations nationwide, as of January 28.

. . . The UU Congregation of Monmouth County (Lincroft NJ) is providing Life Packages, including fishing boats, to tsunami victims.

. . . The District Nominating Committee presents its slate of nominees for the 2005 District Annual Meeting, including Jerry Muntz, nominee for District President, seven trustees-at-large, and five members of the Nominating Committee.

. . . Registration for the 2005 District Annual Meeting begins February 15 online! Watch your mailbox for information.

. . . Nearly $30,500 has been raised on behalf of the Fourth Universalist Society (Manhattan) during the Fall 2004 Chalice Lighters Call. The UU Church of Flushing (NY) is the Spring 2005 Chalice Lighters congregation. Answer the Call!

. . . District Compensation Consultant Lynn Dash will join other UU Compensation Consultants at a nationwide meeting  February 24-27.

It Bears Repeating!

The time is now! to nominate worthy UU individuals and congregations for the 2005 District Awards -- including the newly established Award for Excellence in Religious  Education -- or deserving students for the 2005 District Scholarships. The nomination deadline is March 1, 2005.

 
Transitions and Milestones
 
Lynda Bluestein, outgoing District President, is running for election to the UUA General Assembly Planning Committee and Jan Carlsson-Bull, formerly of the Unitarian Church of All Souls Church (Manhattan), is running for re-election to the UUA Commission on Social Witness.
 
The UUA has published the Rev. Debra Haffner's new online resource manual, Balancing Acts: Keeping Children Safe in Congregations. Rev. Haffner is a Community Minister at the Unitarian Church in Westport (CT).
