Part-Time Accompanist

Hours: Thursday evening choir rehearsal & Sunday morning services
Compensation: Negotiable

JOB DESCRIPTION:
bullet provide piano music, hymn playing/leading and service music (as needed) for the two Sunday services, each from the first Sunday after Labor Day through the second Sunday in June;
bullet accompany Crossing Chorale rehearsal once a week on Thursday nights from 7:30 - 9:00, from late August through mid-June;
bullet rehearse with and accompany musicians for services when the choir does not sing;
bullet work with the Minister, Director of Music Ministry, and the Director of Religious Education in area of general planning of music for services;
bullet provide music for weddings and memorial services, or assist in securing the services of a suitable substitute pianist. The Accompanist has the “right of first refusal” for all such services.
bullet arrange for suitable substitutes for Sundays when accompanying duties exceed the skills and needs of the musicians of the church, to be determined by the Director of Music Ministry;
bullet supervise, with the Director of Music Ministry, the maintenance of the sanctuary piano, and set policies for its use.
 
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: 
Must be able to play and enjoy playing wide variety of music - everything from hymns, "classical music" to show tunes. No church music experience necessary.
