JOB DESCRIPTION: |
| Position Title: Metro New
York District Youth Ministry Consultant |
| Reports to: MNY District
Executive |
| Stipend: $2500 over 12
months, payable in monthly installments |
| Hours: Approx. 3/week plus
conferences and trainings |
| |
| BASIC PURPOSE: |
| The consultant's primary
responsibility is to serve the congregations of the Metro NY
District by providing congregational youth ministries with resources
and training available in-district and from the UUA. The consultant
supports the creation and sustaining of youth groups, promotes a
variety of pathways for youth spiritual growth and development in UU
communities, connects youth leaders with additional opportunities
for growth, supports adults working with youth (including youth
advisors, religious educators, and ministers) and encourages
multigenerational work and integrating youth into the life of
congregations. |

| PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: |
|
1. Track youth groups and youth
ministry programs within MNY. Ensure the maintenance of an
up-to-date list of youth ministry contacts for each
congregation. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
3. Training & Development
 |
Provide consultations and workshops to local and district
groups and meetings as needed/requested. Additional
compensation will be built into the budget of these events.
Make referrals as necessary to other district staff or the
UUA Youth Ministry Office. |

Collaborate with district youth leaders on at least one
workshop for the Annual District Assembly. |
 |
Contribute to the planning of the UU Leadership Training
Institute (UULTI) for the summer of 2009 by supporting the
development of Youth and Advisor training tracks. Work with
the youth and adults from the district that participated in
the 2008 GoldMine Training of Trainers to collaborate in the
planning process. |
 |
Coordinate UUA Youth Office facilitated training and Youth
Advisor workshops held in the MNY District. |

|
4. MNY Youth Adult Committee (YAC)
Liaison
 |
Attend MNY YAC Meetings as needed. |
 |
Communicate with District Staff and MNY YAC Leadership. |
 |
Support and encourage the MNY YAC to facilitate
outreach/informational tabling and other programming at the
district/regional annual meeting of congregations. |
 |
Work closely with the MNY Program Consultant to prioritize
goals in working with youth in the district, having sought
input from the MNY YAC. |
 |
Work with the MNY YACM Consultant and youth and young adult
leaders to organize the District's Bridging Ceremony in May
2009. |

|
5. Youth Advisor Task Force (YATF)
 |
Collaborate with volunteers in the district to continue the
"Youth Advisor Task Force". |
 |
Coordinate YATF communication and attend meetings. |
 |
Work with the YATF to help congregations recruit appropriate
adults, and to make sure that they are well-trained and
mentored. |

|
6. Networking
 |
Participate in LREDA at the district and continental level. |
 |
Collaborate with district staff (especially the Youth
Ministry Consultants) in the New Regional Group (NRG)
comprised of MNY, JPD, SLD, and OMD. |
|
|
|
|
