Director of Ministry with Youth

Morristown Unitarian Fellowship

The Director of Ministry with Youth is responsible for helping to create, coordinate and support our vibrant program for High School Youth, including Sunday morning youth group, retreats and other activities. Responsible for working with the volunteer youth advisors and the new Youth Adult Committee to develop balanced youth programming, including community building, social action, leadership development, worship and learning. Facilitate connections between the youth, congregation, and the broader community. The programming culminates in July with a ten day Habitat for Humanity trip in South Carolina.
 
The qualified applicant will see their work as a ministry, embrace the principles and values of Unitarian Universalism, be strong with details and follow-through, have a collaborative work style, and have an excellent rapport with teenagers. This ministry is about providing a safe environment to discover who one is and creating a religious context that allows our teens to explore the difficult questions of life.
 
HOURS/SALARY/COMPENSATION:
Part-time/Permanent
10 hours/ week, September through July
$6,000.00
One year appointment
 
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:    
bullet Have a strong understanding of Unitarian Universalism and be adept at sharing this understanding with both youth and parents.
bullet Must have attended or be willing to attend Youth Advisor Training (at congregation's expense)
bullet Must be at least 25 years of age
bullet Previous experience working with youth or a vocation that involved youth ministry, teaching, counseling, or social work preferred.
bullet High level of self-motivation, creativity and flexibility.
bullet Strong leadership skills, proven organizational, administrative, volunteer coordination and communication skills.
bullet Proficiency with computer programs and the Internet.
